Fire Station proposed for Closure.
I am another firefighter from Bosham and I am proud of the service we provide to our community and the surounding areas. The proposals talk alot of "fire resiliance" I understand that smoke detectors fitted into all new properties and the fitting of aftermarket detectors by ourselves within the service helps to reduce the life risk but these devices do not stop your house from burning to the ground or help you escape if you are in dificulty "we do" the firefighters that attend.

And if our station closes let me furnish you with some information. The service says Chichester can cover Bosham? but Chichester is the 3rd busiest station in the county and only has one full time crew. the other crew is retained as we are and cannot be taken for granted that it will always be available, we have had to support Chichester in their hour of need on many occasions and provided cover for not only Bosham but Chichester too when they have been attending calls.

So who will provide the cover when and if we go? Bognor? Midhurst? seems a long way when you are standing watching your house burn! or worse stuck trapped in the house waiting to be rescued. But of course they will "get help from Hampshire fire and rescue" or will they? West Sussex has no control over Hampshire appliances and remember Emsworth is retained too so they would not even know if the truck is available or not, and Havant again is a busy station although full time has the whole of Leigh park Havant Bedhampton and Farlington to cover.

We need your support so please send in you objections to the local mp and support us at the consultations. We do not want the station to close we want to protect you and our community.
