Burial Ground

BOSHAM BURIAL GROUND ASSOCIATION

For the maintenance and upkeep of our Burial Ground
Charity Registration No 1059254

The Bosham Burial Ground lies adjacent to Fairfield Road and the footpath which runs from the Berkeley Arms to The Drive. It may be used by all the residents of the parish and by those who have connections with the village, whether they be Christians, members of another faith, or adherents of none.

When Holy Trinity Churchyard was closed in 1902 Lord Gifford, Lord of the Manor, gave the land for the Burial Ground to the Church and this is managed on its behalf by the committee of the Bosham Burial Ground Association. Membership of the Association is open to individuals and corporate groups who are interested in the upkeep of the Burial Ground and willing to contribute financially on an annual basis. Bosham Parish Council, Bosham Association, the Roman Catholic and the United Reformed Church are all corporate members. The annual subscription for individuals is £5 and as the Association is a charity, individual members who pay tax are encouraged to use gift aid for their subscriptions and donations.

Restoration of Lord Gifford's grave: Thanks to special donations, Lord Gifford's grave has been recently restored following damage as a result of the 1987 hurricane. There was a dedication ceremony in June 2001attended by representatives of those who had supported the restoration appeal.
