My family and I have recently moved to live full time in Bosham, and have rented The Barn, (sandwiched between the War Memorial on Quay Meadow, and the BSC dingy park).
My 3 children, (10, 8 and 6yrs) are keen to learn to sail in Optimists and Mirrors. The tender I have for my day boat is not really suitable as dingy safety boat.
I am looking for someone willing to share their RIB/Dory, so that my wife and I can support/rescue/tow the children whilst out sailing in the Harbour.
Benefits:
• ££s: We would want to agree a fair deal that works well for you and us. We would want to contribute to the running and mooring costs
• Peace of Mind: We can see all the boats moored 200m south and north of Bosham Quay from our house (see photo), so will be able to visually check on the boat everyday, and keep a close eye in heavy weather.
• Maintenance: We could physically inspect the boat and start the engine at least weekly, looking for any small problems before they become expensive big ones, and will be on hand to get them fixed.
• Parking: We live 100m from the Quay; we could offer a parking space when you are using your RIB.
• Reciprocal use of our boats: We have 2 Optimists, a Mirror,a 12ft aluminium tender plus outboard, an 8ft rowing boat, a beautiful 2 masted ketch dayboat ‘The Black Pearl’, with cuddy, 5hp inboard, (a Bayraider by Swallow boats commissioned in 2024, see photo) moored 200m N of Bosham Quay. Kayaks and paddleboard likely to follow shortly.
• Storage of your lifejackets/wetsuits etc in our shed.
• No Downside: We would pay for our fuel and any uninsured damages caused by us.
Experience: I have RYA Powerboat 2, and Coastal Skipper’s tickets; my wife has had 2 days professional power boating instruction (May 2024).
If interested please call Tristram Mayhew 07795 345556, or 01243 576354, or pop by The Barn to chat through.

Hello Mr Mayhew, i came upon your posting earlier today i hope you do not mind me emailing you on a related subject. As you have recently moved to the area i wanted to introduce our company Jcraft www.jcraft.co.uk Based in nearby Sidlesham we manufacture RIBS and also offer a range of maintenance and repair services for RIBs and dinghies. Hi there,

We are a family with two boys aged 6 and 3 moving in to sunny way, bosham on thursday. I am hoping to buy a dory advertised on the bosham sailing club site and would be happy to come to an arrangement with you - added benefits sound like they'd more than make up for sharing. Never mind any fee!! I am also hoping to buy a laser as a starter boat for the boys (and something for me to blast around in). It would be good to meet you anyway, as fellow newcomers with small children.
My number is 077010 48360.
I hope to see you soon,

Katy Rink
