I am a WW2 history enthusiast, including Battle of Britain airfields. I recently visited Tangmere (Museum excellant, great shame that little remains of the airfield). In some of the books i have read there is reference to "The OlD Ship" Inn on the waterfront at Bosham as being a favourite watering hole of BoB pilots. I didn't find any trace of this when i spent a very pleasant afternoon at Bosham -very much like parts of my mative old Cornwall and places in the south hams in Devon near where I currently live. Does anyone have any information about the "Old Ship" - is it a fctional pub , renamed, or long since closed? I would be extremely grateful if anyone could provide any information. |
