Hayling Island RNLI Lifeboat Station will be holding its annual Open Day on Sunday 26th July 2009 from 10.30am to 4.30pm. Visitors to the station will be able to look around the new building and the voluntary lifeboat crew will be demonstrating how the new Atlantic 85 lifeboat, Derrick Battle, and the D Class lifeboat, Amanda, James & Ben, are launched and recovered using special adapted tractors. There will also be RNLI souvenirs on sale, children’s activities, and, subject to operational requirements, displays from HM Coastguard (Hayling), Hampshire Fire & Rescue, Hayling First Responders and the Lowland Search Dogs (Southern). There will be a Chichester Harbour Conservancy display and the Southern Model Lifeboats Society will have their models on a pool. The lifeboat station is on the SE corner of Hayling Island off Bracklesham Road. The event is free.
