LEUKAEMIA
RESEARCH FUNDRAISING
GROUP - BOSHAM
|
Eighteen years of fundraising has
taken place, organising enjoyable events. This has
enabled our Hon. Treasurer to send an average of
£21,000 per year over the last three years to
headquarters for research work into this disease.
Several members of the group (informal committee)
live in Bosham, as well as Appledram, Birdham,
Bedhampton, Box grove, Eastergate, Lodsworth and
Yapton. Members would welcome fresh volunteers to help
at fundraising events and/or contribute ideas for
events.
In the past we arranged a Gilbert and Sullivan
concert in Bosham Church; an annual coffee morning
(approx £800); and most recently twenty 'Gardens
Open', thanks to a Bosham organiser and people who
opened their gardens for several hours (£2,500). This
event has taken place in Bosham every two years since
1991, when a modest £900 was raised.
Elsewhere we have had an antiques valuation day
and chef demonstrations and had a stall selling goods
at other organisation events, such as at the Festival
of Speed.
We have seven committee members from Bosham which
includes: in the Chair - tireless Sophie Shalit; our
Hon Treasurer -Andrew Amos; our Hon. Secretary -Jean
Lane (who lived in Bosham 18 years).
Welcome enquiries from possible volunteers to help
at events etc. -please contact Sue Black 01243 -512542
or Jean Lane 01243- 544204.
